School Discos are best held in the school hall or similar large indoor space. We have had some clients run very successful event in the past by partnering with a local club or function centre when a school hall hasn't been available.
Yes, it is possible to have one of our discos in an outdoor location, however there are some things to keep in mind. We will need access to power and, while we do bring an extension lead with us, you may need to provide extra if we can't reach the nearest outlet. Also, the outdoor space will need to allow for the equipment to be set-up under shade as direct sunlight can have an adverse effect on the amplifier and speakers. This will also mean the disco light effects are less visible. Lastly, as these event are intended as indoor entertainment, we don't allow for free re-scheduling in the event of bad weather so its a good idea to have a back-up indoor location in case of rain.
This depends entirely on the size of the school. Our host will generally set up in the centre of the stage and use the whole space to host the event however we can limit the amount of space we use if the stage needs to be shared to incorporate a presentation before or after the disco.
Our host will need you to provide them with a table in a location with reasonable access to a powerpoint. Otherwise we will provide everything needed for the disco itself. It is a good idea to have drinks available for the kids throughout the event as constant dancing can be thirsty work.
We request that you don't hand out any noise making party favours or party poppers until after the disco has finished. While our hosts are very capable, competing with a large group of kids all blowing whistles and popping streamers to be heard is a big ask for anyone.
It is a good idea to inform your host if any of the guests have special needs. These can include ADHD, autism, aspergers, downs syndrome and other behavioural conditions. While our events are designed to be inclusive for all, there are times when awareness of children with these conditions can allow the host to modify their performance sightly, particularly when interacting with those children, to ensure they feel safe and included.
For our school discos there is no limit to the number of children attending. We do recommend that the school / parents provide roughly one supervising adult to every 40 children to ensure that safety is maintained.
The only age limit we impose for this event is that we only cater for infants and primary school aged children. Unfortunately we do not host school disco events for high schools.
